Over Easter weekend UCSD hosted the first round of the College Series Playoffs. Conference Championships, formerly known as Sectionals, took place on April 22-23, with eight teams attending the women's division. Seeded in 5/6th place, the Psychos faced familiar opponents, UCLA, USC, and Irvine on the first day of pool play.

The day began with a game against UCLA, seeded first in the pool. The last time these two teams met was at Pres Day Invite under terrible weather conditions. Unable to convert on one possessions, Blu capitalized on hucks into the end-zone as our running defense struggled to stop Blu's deep threat. UCLA took half and widened their lead to win 15-5.

The next game was against USC. After suffering a loss on universe point to the Hellions at Centex, the Psychos immediately started off strong. With success on one possessions, we were able to keep up with USC, but like UCLA, USC posed a deep threat that we were too late to stop. The Hellions took a 3 point lead at half and were able to maintain a buffer, taking the game 15-11.

After suffering two losses, our next game was against UC Irvine. The Psychos focused on one possessions and found success with converting points on the end-zone, taking the game 15-11. With pool play over, we were able to hold seed and faced cross-town rival, San Diego State for the fifth time this year.

Playing on an exceptionally wide field, we utilized this to our advantage and took control of the sidelines on offense. Our goal for one possession on offense continued to improve throughout the day and was clear in this game. Down 14-10 and with cap at 15, we were able to score 4 points in a row, many of them through offensive flow and aggressive defense. After tying the game at 14, soft cap went off and with a win by two, the game would be played until 16. State scored the next point and took a 15-14 lead and after a key turnover on the next point, State capitalized and closed out the game with a 16-14 win.

After the end of the first day, handler movement continued to improve and with better flow on offense, it was clear we had improved our performance after struggling with offense at Centex. Sunday's games started out with bracket play for a 3rd place bid. Our first game was against Cal Poly SLO who was seeded 3/4th at Conference Championships.

We came out strong against SLO Motion, scoring the first couple points of the game and then taking half. But our running defense struggled against SLO and were able to tie the game at 10. On a quick one possession score, we took the lead at 11-10 right before hard cap went off. Scoring the next point would secure our win and a spot at Regionals. After struggling to keep possession and forcing turnovers on our opponents, after a long, brutal point against SLO, we scored to take the game 12-10.

With a win against SLO, we secured our bid to Regionals. Our second game for the day was against USC again. Unlike the day before, this time we weren't able to keep up with the Hellions as they took a large lead and reached cap at 15-5. This meant our last game would be for 5th place against Cal State Long Beach. Out of nowhere, it started to rain during our game against Long Beach, making catching and throwing relatively difficult as no one was prepared for bad weather. Regardless, we forced turnovers on defense and capitalized on offense and won 15-9, taking 5th place at Conference Championships.

After a long weekend, the Psychos held seed and secured a spot to Regionals. With two more weeks of practice, our next tournament will be in Northern California where UCSD will fight for a spot at Nationals.
